Caleb Olson remains in the lead in the 2025 Western States Endurance Run with just under 20 miles of trail ahead, and continues to run at historic pace. The Nike ACG athlete arrived at the Green Gate aid station at mile 79 in 10 hours and 59 seconds, over 9 full minutes ahead of ultra-distance great Jim Walmsley’s course record split from 2019 at the same aid station.
Olsen looked strong as he split the roaring crowds of fans at Foresthill just past 100k, and has not let off the gas since. He looks set to take the course record if he can maintain his blistering pace on the final few torturous climbs. As temperatures peak in the upper 90s eleven hours into the race, top competitors have begun to drop. Olson has shown no signs of letting up, however, and remains within striking distance of the untouchable sub-14 hour mark.

American Chris Myers followed 4 and a half minutes behind Caleb Olson at Green Gate, but Olson continues to apply pressure, putting a minute and a half into the fellow 29-year-old from mile 78 to 80. Early race favorite Kilian Jornet maintains his podium position in third, but is running out of time to make up ground on the young leaders who continue to tighten the vise at a historic pace.
